John Lautner created the residence holistically – alongside the structure itself, he designed the furniture, lighting, garden and windows. While the living areas are zoned, internal walls are kept to a minimum to further elevate the effect of space and nature. And while the property throughout has a distinctly Brazilian Modernist feel, the polished steel panels of the window frames bring in a certain Art Deco quality. Built among the rainforest of Vinhedo, São Paulo, Library House utilises its location on a steep hillside to great effect. At street level, all that is visible of the building is the viewing platform of the expansive flat concrete roof. The house itself exists in its own private world in the stories below, as if suspended from the forest canopy.
It’s just a sort of a landscape in which I focused it on this knoll and this oak tree. And the view from that knoll and the view back was how I figured the whole thing. The basement level has been outfitted with a home theatre, gym, spa, cedar sauna, service kitchen, and a wine room big enough to hold a thousand bottles. Also accessible from this floor is The Cube, an attached guesthouse designed for family and staff. The Cube is outfitted with four bedrooms, four baths, a kitchenette, and dedicated access and garage. For the client's entertaining needs, the outdoor area includes a kitchen, two patios complete with fire pits, and an LED-lit pool1.

Thomas Roszak designed this modern glass home made of steel and glass and sits on Chicago’s North Shore. Rosszak designed the house for his own family and the openness of this beautiful glass house reflects the beautiful landscape and natural beauty all around. Located in Bad Driburg, Germany, this incredible example of a glass house was designed by 3Deluxe and was constructed for the Glaskoch Corp. The construction was completed in May of 2007 and although it is primarily used as a place of corporate meetings and hospitality, it could be transformed into a living space.
This is the only home like it for miles and although it looks super-modern, it is described as all you feel is the space around you – it is so open and airy. We regret that car seat regulations regarding the use of car seats in our shuttle prevent us from transporting any infants and younger children to the site. One was even with Romanesque arches all over the place, brick, basically a stone and brick house. I finally, in despair of getting the house on the knoll because the knoll is too small, I had to take half the house and put it back against the hill, which is the way it is now. So I put a pavilion out on the end so I could look around the world the way you can from a bandstand in a Middle Western town. You stand on the bandstand in off-season and there’s the town at your feet.
The Glass House started because of the land that was there. I worked for three or four years throwing out ideas. And it was all conditioned by the landscape itself. In finding that little knoll, I was in the middle of the woods in the middle of the winter and I almost didn’t find it.
